TPS11: How A Father of 3 Kids Wakes Up Early And Stays Productive

By | 3 comments

Joe Buhlig

We all have the same number of hours in the day and some people manage to accomplish a lot more, keep up with their responsibilities and not get overwhelmed in the process. Joe is one of those people. He is also a husband, a father, a woodworker, a hunter, a cyclist, a writer and an “information architect” for the company he works for.

In this episode you will discover how Joe:

  • uses the first 2 + hours in the morning to set himself up for a successful day
  • learned to get back in the habit of waking up early
  • clears his head to fall asleep in 5 minutes flat
  • system he uses to get things out of his head and stay present

I would love detailed instructions about how Joe set up Alfred to launch his Evernote Goal note and how to create a not in Evernote with Omnifocus’ completed items. I use both OF and Evernote all the time but I have no experience with Apple Scripts or Alfred.

I could not find instructions on Joe’s website either.

I think it would be very informative if you would dedicate an episode or series of episodes focused on productivity for those having children. I think there could be a series of topics related to ways to being productive with young children (eg automating morning and evening routines for them, transitioning, adjusting a traditional need to be productive in your own life to the realities and unpredictability of having children, and lots more).

With the co-host and many of your guests having children, I think that you could pioneer a new niche in productivity discussion with your collective experiences and angles of attack.

Thanks and keep up the great work.

Thanks Mike – I think that’s a great idea. I’ve added it to our list for shows to produce. I agree – we could help a lot of people with this!
