Voice Is My New Favorite Productivity Hack

The Productivity Show

Six months ago, I had a realization that completely changed how I work.

I was walking home after a meeting, trying to type a few notes into my phone while dodging scooters. Autocorrect was fighting me. My thumbs were fumbling. I could feel the ideas slipping away.

Then it hit me: Why am I typing at all?

So I started speaking. At first, I dictated straight into the ChatGPT app. It was okay. But honestly? It struggled to understand me. My sentence structure was messy. It kept picking up “uh” and “um.” The outputs were clunky and awkward.

You’d think after recording over 500+ podcast episodes since 2015 that I would know how to speak into a mic but it still got messy.

But still, something about using my voice felt like the right direction.

A few weeks later, I had dinner with a group of high-performing entrepreneurs. I came with questions, curious to learn how they worked.

I noticed something surprising: All three of them used voice over typing.

Not just casually. Intentionally.

One of them mentioned Wispr Flow. It wasn’t just a transcription app…it uses AI between what you say and what gets written down. So your ideas come out sounding more clear, natural and complete.

That was the missing piece for me.

I tried it the next morning, and by the end of the day, I had upgraded to the paid plan. I haven’t looked back.

Since then, voice has become a core part of how I work.

I use it to:

And the best part? I’ve built AI workflows that take those voice notes and automatically generate:

It’s like having a personal assistant who listens to everything and never drops the ball. A few years ago, this wouldn’t be possible because of a lack of technology. But nowadays, because of AI, voice productivity is a real tool that’s extremely powerful.

Want to try this out? Here are 3 easy ways to start:

  1. Use your voice with ChatGPT
Open the mobile app and hit the mic. Start by asking questions, brainstorming, or outlining ideas. Don’t worry about being perfect, just speak.
  2. Record meetings or thoughts on the go
Tools like Granola, Otter can transcribe anything. Then paste the transcript into ChatGPT and ask:

“Summarize this and give me the top 5 takeaways with action items.”

  1. Try Wispr Flow: my go-to voice tool
It adds a layer of AI that cleans up your thoughts before writing them down.
    It’s the smoothest voice-to-text experience I’ve had.

I also recorded a full podcast episode where I go deeper on this, including tool breakdowns, voice-first workflows, and what I learned from that entrepreneur dinner.

And if you want to dive even deeper, I recently taught a live masterclass inside the Productivity Academy, where I showed real-world examples of how I turn voice notes into content, action, and results.
Check out the Productivity Academy.

You don’t need fancy gear. Just your phone. Try replacing one typing task this week with your voice. See what happens.

Your thumbs will thank you. Your brain will too.

P.S. I’m thinking of creating a new course (or maybe it’s a live webinar or just a single afternoon masterclass) where I walk you through my full voice productivity system, show you my favorite tools, and share how I use AI to make the most of it. If that sounds interesting, reply to this email. If there’s enough demand, I’ll put something together.
