Your first point on following a proven system was something I especially needed to hear. I have a bad habit of seeing a shiny new productivity system — 7 Habits/First Things First, GTD, Agile Results, 12 Week Year, etc. — and immediately switching to it only to find that it is a never-ending learning curve detrimental to my own personal productivity.
