How to Choose the Right Productivity App

By | 4 comments

“Which productivity app do you recommend?”

We get this question all the time at Asian Efficiency. With hundreds of new apps coming out every year, it can be difficult to figure out which one is the right one for you. Just for fun, I just checked Productivity category on the Apple App Store. As soon as I got in, I was presented with hundreds of possible apps I could use.

I feel your pain.

That’s why we put this video together that shows you how to pick the right app. We also give our recommendations of our top apps so you don’t have to waste time on figuring out which apps are the best.

This video is part of the Dojo – our online community where we release a new course every month for Dojo members. We have a lot more videos where we cover intermediate and advanced productivity topics such as how to prioritize, project management, and the ultimate guide to planning your day. This month we released a crash course on Simple Systems that shows you some of our personal systems we use to be productive. It covers:

  • How you should organize your files and folders on your computer
  • Our top 6 systems everyone must have to be productive
  • How to keep your systems up to date
  • How often you should update your systems and how to do that

And much more. We’re opening up the Dojo to new members starting Wednesday Dec 2nd. Be sure to check back when it’s open again.
Update: The Dojo is now open.

This is a good well thought out video, particularly for an Apple product user. Unfortunately it also reinforces the reason why I haven’t purchased any AE products beyond the Primer – to much Apple, not enough of the rest.

Thank you for the nice overview, I found it helpful in many ways. One thing I would have liked to see is a recommendation for the Android and Windows platforms. I’m not an Apple user and that is by choice, I’ve no desire to switch. Perhaps you can influence the creators of Omnifocus to expand their platform. Or provide a review of other qualified apps.

Many thanks,
